Privacy Policy

1. Scope and who we are

Charmed Chronicles is a private, family-oriented learning website for preschool and kindergarten preparation. The service is operated by Thomas Benson. “Charmed Chronicles,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Thomas Benson as the operator of this service.

A parent or legal guardian should review this policy and supervise a child's use of the service. Privacy questions and parent requests may be sent to support@charmedchronicles.site.

2. Information handled by the current service

Information kept on the family's device

The current version is designed to keep most family and learning information in the browser's local storage rather than in a Charmed Chronicles account database. This can include:

• the approved grown-up email entered at the sign-in screen;
• learning activity results, accuracy, stars, rewards, skill level, session timing, and progress;
• parent settings, enabled categories, learning goals, and custom words; and
• completed coloring artwork saved as browser data.

This information normally remains on that browser and device until a family resets it or clears the site's browser data. Other people who use the same browser profile may be able to access it.

Technical and usage information

Our hosting and analytics providers may receive technical information when a person visits the hosted website. Depending on the provider and browser settings, this may include an IP address, general location derived from the IP address, browser and device details, referring page, pages visited, visit time, and cookie or similar identifiers.

Google Analytics measures basic site use. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, custom words, artwork, or detailed learning answers to Google Analytics. Google's policies also prohibit customers from sending information Google can recognize as directly identifying a person.

Information we do not currently request

The service does not currently ask a child for a mailing address, telephone number, precise location, school name, voice recording, photo, or government identifier. It has no public profiles, chat, social sharing, advertising, or in-app purchases.

3. How information is used

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

• provide the learning activities and remember progress on the device;
• apply parent-selected settings and difficulty choices;
• protect, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the service;
• understand basic traffic and feature use in aggregate; and
• respond to parent questions and privacy requests.

We do not use the service to serve behaviorally targeted advertising to children, and we do not sell or rent family or child information.

4. Service providers and disclosures

We currently use these providers to operate the hosted service:

• Vercel provides website hosting, content delivery, security, and operational request logs. Read the Vercel Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics (Google LLC) provides website measurement. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Providers process information for their services under their own terms and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect the safety and security of the service or a person, investigate misuse, or complete a reorganization of the service. We do not enable children to make their information publicly available.

5. Account features

Google is configured as an authentication provider through Supabase, but Google sign-in is not currently active in the app interface and the present sign-in does not create a Google or Supabase account session. Cloud-based learning-data storage using Supabase is also not currently active.

Before activating an account or cloud feature that materially changes collection, storage, or sharing, we will update the relevant notices and use a parent notice and consent process when required.

6. Retention, security, and deletion

Browser-stored learning information remains until it is reset in the service or the browser's data for this site is cleared. Analytics and hosting records are retained according to our settings, operational needs, and the providers' retention practices. We aim to keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and then delete or de-identify it.

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information. No browser, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

7. Parent and guardian choices

A parent or guardian may:

• clear this site's local storage through the browser's site-data controls;
• use the choices described in our Analytics & Storage Notice;
• ask whether we maintain information associated with their child or family; and
• request access, correction, deletion, or an end to further collection where applicable.

Send requests to support@charmedchronicles.site. We may need to verify that the requester is the child's parent or guardian before acting on a request.

8. Children's privacy

This service is child-directed and is intended to be opened and managed by a parent or guardian. Our Children's Privacy Notice gives a shorter, child-specific explanation of our current practices and parent choices.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service changes or legal requirements develop. The effective date at the top will show when it was last revised. If a change materially affects the collection or use of children's personal information, we will provide additional parent notice and obtain consent when required before applying the new practice.
