1. Overview
Charmed Chronicles uses browser storage to make learning features work on a family's device. The hosted website also uses Google Analytics and standard hosting technology. These tools are described below so parents and guardians can make an informed choice.
2. Browser local storage
Local storage lets a website remember information in a browser between visits. Charmed Chronicles uses it for:
- the current demo sign-in and approved grown-up email;
- activity progress, attempts, stars, rewards, and skill placement;
- parent settings, learning goals, and custom words; and
- coloring artwork saved on the device.
This local information is necessary for the current offline-first learning experience. It is not automatically synchronized to a Charmed Chronicles cloud database. A parent can remove it by clearing the browser's stored site data. Doing so may erase all saved progress and artwork on that browser.
3. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand basic website traffic and feature use, diagnose problems, and improve the service. The Google tag may use or read cookies and similar identifiers. A browser may automatically send Google information such as the page URL, IP address, browser and device details, referring page, and visit timing. Google may use an IP address to derive a general location.
We do not intentionally include names, email addresses, custom words, artwork, or detailed learning responses in Analytics events or page URLs. We do not use Analytics to show advertising in Charmed Chronicles or to build advertising profiles for children.

4. Hosting and security logs
Vercel hosts and delivers the website. Like most hosting services, it may process ordinary request and security information such as IP address, requested URL, date and time, browser or user-agent details, response status, and related operational records. These records help deliver content, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and maintain security.

5. Parent choices
A parent or guardian may:
- use browser controls or extensions to limit cookies, scripts, or third-party requests;
- install the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on;
- clear Charmed Chronicles site data to remove locally stored family information; or
- stop using the hosted service if these technologies are not acceptable.
Blocking storage or scripts may prevent sign-in, progress saving, or other parts of the service from working as intended. The Analytics opt-out add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing visit activity with Google Analytics, but it does not block other website or hosting traffic.
6. Child-directed use
Charmed Chronicles is designed for young children, but privacy choices should be made by a parent or guardian. Persistent identifiers can be treated as personal information under children's privacy law. We use usage measurement for service operation and improvement, not child-directed advertising.
